What's New in Sturmgrenadier? A Lot!
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany
October 5, 2002) Things around Sturmgrenadier keep getting
better and better! Earlier this week, Sturmgrenadier revealed a
brand new squad ranking system for its members. This new system
includes 90% historically accurate ranks as well as a brand new "time
in grade" component for the lower, non-NCO ranks. Today, the
official images to go along with those ranks were unveiled. The
new ranking system offers Sturmgrenadier members more room to grow
within the ranks and assume new responsibilities. Look for details
here!
Another
brand new happening within Sturmgrenadier is the official
unveiling of Kampfgruppe III Drache. Previously known as the Euro
KG, this Kampfgruppe caters to our European and overseas members
and is awaiting full deployment upon acquiring adequate manpower.
Earlier in the week, KG3 Drache was officially recognized as KG3
of the GHC's 4th Panzer Division European, with Ratchet retaining
command of both iterations. Sturmgrenadier is actively seeking
WWIIOL European players who want to be a part of the best squad in
the game!
In a time
of transition within the game, with the release of the next
version public beta, Sturmgrenadier continues to dominate wherever
it sets foot. Come be a part of the best team in the online gaming
universe!

Eisenfaust Receives a New Executive Officer
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany
September 12,
2002) Today, Nyman01 was appointed as KG2 Eisenfaust's new
Executive Officer, replacing Grisgris, who has decided to step
down due to real-life time constraints.
Nyman01,
formerly a KG2 AG Lieutenant, steps into the role as a seasoned
fighter and leader. Together with KG2's Commanding Officer,
Scorpius, Nyman hopes to continue the great tradition of
excellence within KG2.
Grisgris
was an excellent XO for KG2, taking charge of all KG2's
administrative tasks and getting everything squared away. His
contributions will not be lost; however, as he remains on board,
fighting alongside his SG brothers and sisters.

The GHC CinC Position Changes Hands
Reported by: Burnspot
(Aachen, Germany August 24,
2002) "Time
has come that my tour as CinC has finished. It has been the most
extraordinary experience I have ever had in a computer game. The
last year has been an amazing journey of ups and down, but above
all it turned this from 'just a game' into a rewarding
relationship with a collection of great folks." Those were the
words of Scoobe, the GHC's Commander in Chief as he turned command
of all Axis forces over to his successor, Eggert, at a change of
command ceremony held in Aachen, Germany. For Scoobe's full
retirement speech, please go
here. We wish Scoobe all the best and look forward to working
under CinC Eggert as the Axis continues to trample the Allied
forces.
Sturmgrenadier had the distinct pleasure of coordinating and
carrying out the change of command parade in honor of Scoobe and
Eggert, complete with infantry and armored columns. Sturmgrenadier
members, yet again, proved that they had the discipline and skill
to give a great show! Many thanks to our fellow GHC brethren who
participated! Too see images of the ceremony, please see the GHC

Stormtroopers Move the Map
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany August 19,
2002) It was not so long ago when Allied forces were pushing their
way to Aachen and the Axis Army appeared to be scrambling just to
keep what real estate they still had. Sturmgrenadier knuckled down
and began the grim work of pushing the Allied hordes back by
re-taking Maastricht, setting off a long chain of events that led
to Sturmgrenadier's 20th capture of Brussels last night, along
with the towns of Waterloo, Halle, Aalst, Charleroi, Dendermonde,
and Nivelles. Since that initial re-taking of Maastricht,
Sturmgrenadier has played an integral part in the capture of over
15 towns in the last week, putting the Allies on the defensive and
stifling their ability to counter. Thanks go out to all Axis
squads and players who took part in assisting with the ousting of
the Allied wretches, your actions have proven invaluable.
Sturmgrenadier, a name well-known, respected, and feared among all
Allied forces, continues to pursue the enemy with relentless
determination and grit. There'll be no rest until Sturmgrenadier
pushes the Allied forces into the channel; we'll be thirsty for
English tea by then...

Sturmgrenadier Communications See Evolution
Reported by: Burnspot
With the passing of WWIIOL
version 1.55 and the continuing evolution of the 1.6x series of
patches from CRS, Sturmgrenadier has seen an explosion in our
membership numbers. Our in-game numbers have never been higher,
averaging 35-40+ online every night of the week. This placed an
incredible demand on our current Roger Wilco voice communications
software and began to impact our operations. As a result,
Sturmgrenadier has undertaken what many have called an evolution
by turning to Teamspeak
(http://www.teamspeak.org/)
as our new choice for all our voice communication needs.
Transition is never easy and moving from Roger Wilco, which we
have used since SG's inception, to Teamspeak will prove to be an
interesting experience for all. Teamspeak will continue to be
tested by Sturmgrenadier until the end of August, at which point
the decision to stick with it or revert to Roger Wilco will be
made. All new and current members are expected to participate
fully in the testing period. Address all Teamspeak questions
and/or problems to our Communications Officer, Jerith, to
communications@shq.com
Thank you
for your continued support!

Luftwaffe with Stewart remaining the LW's Executive Officer.

our America's Army force and will continue his great work there.

A
Long, Bloody Battle
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany July 19, 2002) The war in the
French theater drags on. Axis and Allied troops continue battling
over ground daily, literally fighting for every inch of soil.
Following the liberation of Brussels on July2, Axis forces,
spearheaded by Sturmgrenadier, captured Antwerp and towns west.
Allied forces, fractured by the continuous Axis westward push,
regrouped, reinforced, and managed to retake Brussels and Antwerp,
making a deep thrust into Axis-held territory. For a day, Liege
fell to Allied forces, but they were soon defeated and removed
from the city.
Throughout the Allied push into Axis
territory, Waterloo and Enghein proved too well-defended for the
Allied forces to overtake, with fierce fighting on both sides.
Being unable to capture Waterloo, the Allied forces left the door
to Brussels open and Sturmgrenadier stepped through by recapturing
Brussels on July 18. The liberation of Brussels was coordinated
and planned again by OJ, KG1's Executive Officer. With the help of
Axis and SG forces maintaining a Waterloo defense, OJ led a
contingent of SG soldiers into Brussels, leading to its capture
once again. The operation was met with some resistance, but our
forces prevailed! Thanks go to all the GHC and Axis forces that
helped in securing the ownership of this key city.
Salute!
to all the SG and Axis forces in beating back the Allied advance.
The job is not yet finished, but I'm confident that we shall
prevail. Keep up the fight!

News Release
For Immediate
Release
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany July 2, 2002) Today,
Sturmgrenadier forces, led by OJ, KG1's XO, assaulted Allied
positions in Brussels, Belgium, forcing the Allied defenders to
capitulate. The attack, lasting 4-5 hours and consisting of 45-60
Sturmgrenadier troops, commenced when Sturmgrenadier forces
captured the Brussels Airfield and Armybase and began to mass
forces in earnest. Sturmgrenadier and other 3rd Panzerarmee LW
units worked successfully to maintain a functioning FB into
Brussels despite repeated Allied bombings. After sufficient force
levels were attained (for AF defense and city assault) and recon
was performed, an all-out assault of the city proper began.
Sturmgrenadier captured the 3 remaining AB's and then commenced
clean up operations in cooperation with other elements of the 4th
Panzer Division and 3rd Panzerarmee; Brussels was cleared and
"owned" shortly thereafter.
Later in the
evening, Sturmgrenadier forces continued beyond Brussels and took
the city of Waterloo, adding the exclamation point to the work of
earlier.
A hearty
!SALUTE! to all Sturmgrenadier members as well as members of the
4th Panzer Division and 3rd Panzerarmee who took part in the
operation. Sturmgrenadier members who participated in the action
earned the SG Achievement Ribbon for outstanding performance in
the taking of Brussels.

The
World Turns on its Ear
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany June 29th, 2002) Following in the
footsteps of the recently released version 1.60, Cornered Rat
Software announced the introduction of attrition and new capture
rules with the release of version 1.65 on June 27th. The patch
completely revamps the sound system and makes various other
smaller updates; however, it is the attrition and capture rules
that set this patch apart from all the rest. The world of WWIIOL
has fundamentally changed. Gone are the days of cities changing
ownership multiple times a day; gone are the days of wide swings
in the front line.
Scorpius, KG2 Eisenfaust's Commanding Officer had this to say
about the patch, "Not enough time to evaluate the new patch
yet...but I think the new rules definitely favor the defenders
over the attackers by a wide margin. This puts even more burden on
SG since we are primarily an assaulting force." That pretty
much sums it up. The new patch has increased the difficulty of the
game tenfold, making superior teamwork and force a necessity,
something Sturmgrenadier is extremely familiar with.
In the day or so
since the patch's release, only 2 towns have been claimed by each
side. The pace of the war is now one of a more realistic and
grueling nature. CRS has stated that further refinements are
already being planned, but we now can see where they're taking us
and it's starting to look very good.
Come, join us
on the field and see the new WWIIOL!

Changes in Command Staff
Reported by: Burnspot
(Berlin, Germany June 18th, 2002) On Sunday, the
16th of June, Scorpius,
a long time SG member and KG2 XO, assumed command of KG2. GrisGris,
another long time SG member and special operations veteran, was
named as KG2's new Executive Officer. Dmashek, the outgoing KG2
CO, will be moving into a position where he can concentrate fully
on his critical role as GHC's 4th Division US Commanding Officer.
Today, over
in KG1 Donner, OJ, a long time special operations guru, has made
his return to the command staff by being named the new KG1
Executive Officer.
Congratulations to all of these men for
well-deserved promotions! Sturmgrenadier will

Let
the Good Times Roll
Reported by: Burnspot
On June 6th, 2002,
Cornered Rat Software released the long-awaited upgrade to World
War II Online, 1.60. The new upgrade was born bearing the version
number 1.64 and features many new enhancements and many new
challenges. The theater, a large area before, has been expanded
even more, offering new vistas from which to launch assaults. Axis
forces have received the HE-111 and the newly deployed PZ-IVD,
while the Allied armies have been allocated a new AA weapon and
transport vehicle. Enhancements to the infantry model have greatly
re-shaped how infantry play a part in the game, giving them a more
prominent role in the fighting. Ddfletch, a longtime
Sturmgrenadier member, was overhead saying, "I must say, I've not
had this much fun in game since I bought it 5 months ago. I love
all the new stuff with a passion."
Many Sturmgrenadier members are enjoying the new version right now
and I encourage all of you who had been waiting for the new
version to visit the game's website or our forums, to download and
install the new version. Expect faster and more revolutionary game
updates in the near future, as WWIIOL continues its evolution.
Sturmgrenadier is back in full force and wreaking havoc on Allied
forces wherever they may be cowering- you are invited to join us.

We have

trim the fat from our team. Over the course of the last year we
have seen many players join our ranks. Some of those players for
whatever reasons have left the game or are very inactive with our
team. In order for SG to get an accurate count of our troops, we
deleted everyone from player services and have asked that our
active players re-register. Doing this will have us a fresh start

We have experienced a plethora of setbacks over the last month or
so. A selected few were relieved of duty while others were
promoted. We lost forums and RW servers while gaining replacements
for both. During many of these processes we were hacked,
compromised and even ridiculed. We lost many members due to the
effects of so many changes in such a short amount of time. Add
that to the fact that the game itself has been in building stages
since its intial release. During the course of these harsh times
it is you that are here now that have stood strong behind
Sturmgrenadier. We realize that we are merely servants of all of
you and it is you that make us who we are. To be the best takes
hard work, loyalty and character. You, the members of
Sturmgrenadier, are indeed the best of the best. It is you that
make us strong. It is you that turn peoples heads in and out of

forums have been hacked not once but 2 times. Pan literally went
all the way to work to reset our forums to only come back home to
see they had been reset once again by a cowardly and childish
ex-member of SG. We are actively setting up a new forum.
Stay tuned...

Beta
Testers
Reported
by: Spoon
The beta testers are pounding away again at
some long awaited new features. This is why many of you have not
seen a few of us around in the servers lately. We cannot give out
any details but I will say that this is gonna be the best patch
released to date.
Stay tuned...

Changes...
Reported
by: Command
As stated we made some changes. During the
course of our meeting, JayC has decided to pursue his skills
elsewhere. The RW server has already been changed and we will be
losing our forums for a couple of days. Until then we will set up
a temp forum located here.
The RW IP can be found on the members only section of our site.
Everything works exactly the same except the IP has changed. The
tuner simply needs to be altered to reflect the new IP. If you
have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your CO or XO
or myself.
Thanks for all your support during these changes,

Back
home...
Reported
by: Spoon
Finally, I am back home from a month long
business trip. I expect there are gonna be alot of meetings over
the next week but I assure you that we will be getting things back
on track in the very near future. Expect ALOT of changes and a few
replacements here and there as we regroup our forces. My
appreciation goes out to those that have been here and continuing
to set the standard. For the next week or so, there is an open
door policy directly to Pan or myself to handle all your
personal needs, comments, requests or recommendations.
Thanks for all you do,

Still
in idle status...
Reported
by: Spoon
My apologies for the lack of updates over
the last 2 weeks. I have been out of town on business and have not
been able to update the site as needed. I am home today only and
will be flying back out to KC for another 2 weeks which means no
updates for an additional 2 weeks. Sturmgrenadier is still
undergoing vigorous training in preparation for the official start
of the war. We appreciate all your support and any questions need
to be addressed via the forums.
Thanks for all you do,

I tell ya one thing, when Pan, Scorp and
myself got access to the beta and decided we wanted to put
together a team, we never thought we would see such a large
following. I guess we are doing something right after all.
Battle groups are forming so you new guys need to really get in
the private forum and post. We want to get you placed and with
your permanent team as fast as we can.
Thanks for everything!

Welcome
New Members
Reported
by: Command
We would like to take this time to welcome
all the newcomers to our ranks. With Playnet mail being down you
will not receive any additional emails so it is very important you
read the ones that were sent. Everything you need to know at this
point is stated in that email. Please do what it says to the best
of your ability. We realize you cannot register on the player
services page as again most of Playnet is down. Place that on the
back burner for now. Until that time please read the website for
updates. Do not forget to check the members
only section of the site. Someone is always on Roger Wilco and
if you do not have it please grab it from the downloads section.
All members that do not have ICQ...it is not imperative that you
have this program but it would be helpful to your Commanders. mIRC
is also available for download and that is a MUST. The mIRC java
chat is available but is not as dependable as the real thing.
Again, Welcome to Sturmgrenadier!

Eggmans
Newbie Guide
Reported
by: Spoon
We realize that nerves are high and that
patience at this point is very limited. While we are ALL still
waiting to actually play the game online I wanted to take the time
to post a very valuable resource for newbies. Eggman has been so
kind as to put his site live on a public server for all to view.
This site has been a valuable tool for all the Closed Beta Testers
and I am sure you will find it as helpful.
Check
it out here.
Thanks for your support and
extreme patience.

Patience grasshoppa. Due to the ENORMOUS

WWIIOL servers are being tweaked and will be up and down over the
next 24 hours. We understand your frustration but rest assured it
will get better and you will be glad you waited.
